These Treatments are Different
You cannot pick an alternative cancer treatment the same way you pick your other medications. Despite the enthusiastic claims of well meaning people:
- Just because Protocel worked for someone else, that does not mean it will work for you.
- Even though there are many viable alternative cancer treatments, there isn't a "best" treatment for a certain type or stage of cancer.
- Most alternative cancer treatments only work on a minority of the people who try it.
A person's unique body chemistry seems to be the most important consideration in selecting an alternative cancer treatment. Only energy medicine offers a selection method that takes body chemisrty into account.
What to Do
Consider taking no more than three treatments, the treatment recommend by someone else, selected by your research and the treatment indicated by energy medicine testing using the Alternative Cancer Treatments Test Kit*.
Background
Protocel is a safe alternative cancer treatment which has successfully treated people and animals for a wide array of diseases for more than thirty years without dangerous side effects. Cancell Cantron Protocel
On this web page you may see "Cancell" used interchangeably with "Protocel" in places where both Cantron and Protocel are discussed. Cantron and Protocel have the same ingredients with slightly different ratios. Cancell is an older name which is not used in the US. Cantron and Protocel are produced by different companies. I personally use Cantron because I perceive the people at Medical Research Products (Cantron manufacturer and distributor) to be more accurate and willing to correct mistakes), more generous (information sharing and refund giving), and more trustworthy (not hidden) than the shadowy people who seen to be behind Protocel. The exception to the Protocel problems is the new distributor and the only Protocel distributor recommended on this web site. The "Important Notice" on Protocel.com
On the first page of protocel.com there is this statement, "Protocel has been so successful over the last seven years, it has created copycat products." This statement is from WebND.com also known as Renewal & Wellness. Their information has created problems for years. They ignore our attempts to correct the mistakes they make. They seem to have no concern for information accuracy. For example, there are no copycat products. If they are referring to Cantron, it should be noted that Cantron was produced and distributed for years before Protocel showed up on the market. For a short time, one man was purchasing Protocel and putting it in bottles with a Radic label and selling it for a tremendous mark-up. He is no longer doing this because he was exposed on this web site alternativecancer.us.
If you follow the protocel.com "Click here for notice" link, you will find a mass of misleading information directed at discrediting the Cantron product which is manufactured by a much more up-front and generous company. The notice also attempts to discredit the information on this web site alternativecancer.us. For example, the WebND statement regarding Germanium-132 and Protocel is completely misleading. Taking Germanium-132 with Protocel is fine (as has been stated on alternativecancer.us for years). Taking Germanium-132 and Pau d'arco together will interfere with Protocel. This information was given to me by the Protocel chemist advisor. More comments on the misleading "Important Notice" from WebND and the problems we have had with WebND.

Other Diseases, AIDS, Herpes...
Protocel has been an effective tool against viruses including AIDS, Herpes (see below), colds, flu, and Chronic Fatigue syndrome (when due to viruses). It has also been reported to be effectiveness against lupus, endimetriosis, Crohn's disease, fibromyalgia, almost all auto-immune disease, and has some success treating: ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Leukemia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Scleroderma. AIDS
When Protocel is given to an AIDS patient, it breaks down the cell that the virus has invaded. At that point, the virus loses its protection allowing the immune system to attack the virus. This results in an initial increase in viral count. The number of viruses has not increased, they are just more detectable due to the removal of the protective layer. Viruses
Protocel has demonstrated strong anti-viral abilities against most viruses including colds and flu. It can be exceptionally helpful for people like myself who take a long time to get rid of these common illnesses. My usual run with a cold is two weeks and some flues have persisted for six weeks. Now that I use Protocel, neither of these conditions remain for more than three days and my symptoms are reduced by about 70% soon after taking my first dose. Herpes
The book the Cancell Controversy by Louise Trull reports that 15 cases of herpes were treated with Cancell by physicians with positive cures in every case within 3 to 6 days. However, extensive follow ups were not performed. It is more likely that Protocel simple reduces the length of episodes. However, there is some chance that a long course of treatment, about four months, may make it very difficult for the virus to launch another episodes or can greatly reduce the frequency of episodes. Heart Disease and High Blood Pressure
Some people who have taken Protocel for cancer also had high blood pressure and clogged arteries. Since the cancer was more of a threat, these people ignored their heart conditions to concentrate on their cancer. After Protocel had corrected their cancer, they were surprised to learn that their blood pressure had gone back to normal. Some of these people had angiograms performed and found that the plaque in their arteries had been dissolved. For this reason the Protocel manufacturers recently (March 2003) performed tests on Protocel to determine its antioxidant abilities. The results of the tests indicated that Protocel is the most powerful antioxidant available. It is many times more powerful than any other antioxidant. For this reason Protocel is a life saver for people with high blood pressure because the current high blood pressure medication has a terrible list of side affects.

Development
The first Cancell-like formula was called Entelev and was developed by a chemist, James Sheridan of Rosell, Michigan. Currently, the brand names Cantron and Protocel are the only Cancell-like products available. Although Sheridan was a researcher at the Michigan Cancer Center, Sheridan was not a medical doctor. This may be one of the reasons the medical profession has offered so much resistance to Cancell. There is even a name for this resistance: professorial blockade. Another reason for this resistance may be due to the fact that Cancell is not only anticancer it is also antiviral. It is also the most complete and the strongest antioxidant ever tested. Since his original formula the following names have been used: Sheridan's Formula, Jim's Juice, Crocinic Acid, JS-114, JS-101, 126-F, Entelev, Cancell, Cantron, and Protocel.
Sheridan theorized the possibility of chemically controlling the energy needed by the cells of our body to cause energy-low cancer cells to revert to a state where the body can eliminate them as foreign matter. The theory postulates that cancer cells are too low in energy to proceed with their normal development. Cancer cells stop their development just short of differentiating into a normal liver, lung, brain ... cell. Sheridan proposed to push cancer cells backward in their development instead of try to encourage them to differentiate as many cancer treatments attempt.
Sheridan believed he had found a method of controlling the energy available to cells in the early 1930s after witnessing a chemical reaction called rhythmic banding in an analytical chemistry laboratory at Carnegie Tech and reading the Debye Theory, published in 1927 which explores the effects of changing the dielectric constant on reactions of positive and negative ions suggested the means to accomplish this energy reduction.
About 1950, Sheridan was invited to join the staff of the Detroit Institute of Cancer Research. There he performed the required chemical work on the project and the institute experts performed the animal tests. In late 1953, the institute director concluded that Entelev was ready for a clinical program. A committee was formed consisting of the Dean of Medicine at Wayne University, three oncologists from area hospitals, and the director. The committee spent several days interviewing the experts who were running the tests, reviewed the test results and concluded that the material was ready for a clinical program. The director of the Detroit Institute of Cancer Research informed the American Cancer Society about the product. A meeting was requested to take place in New York City. The director and the Dean attended the meeting. They returned and reported that the American Cancer Society did not approve the test because Mr. Sheridan did not prove that he owned the idea. Sheridan was later fired.
Since Sheridan had worked on his idea for many years, it would be fairly easy to show that the idea was his, but Sheridan was fired. Why he was fired is not a mystery if you know how diabolical the pharmaceutical companies are. During the Nuremberg war crimes trials, executives of German pharmaceutical companies were the only civilians who received prison sentences. The descendent companies now operate world wide and receive great respect from the uninformed. An example of such a company is none other than Bayer the aspirin giant that many people think is an American company. Bayer is responsible for introducing the pestiside Clothianidin**, trade named: Poncho 600. Bayer is so powerful it has been able to keep this information out of mainstream media so most people believe that the bee die-off is still a mystery. Pharmaceutical companies like Bayer easily control medical research by giving or withholding grants for research. Moss's book The Cancer Industry is full of such dirty dealing.

Ready for People
Based on the animal testing, Sheridan knew that Entelev was non-toxic and started giving it to friends who were at the “end of the line.” Word spread of the effects it had on these people and Sheridan started receiving requests from all over the country. Unable to refuse to give people a chance for life, he began distributing it for free to anyone who asked for it. The FDA eventually placed an illegal injunction against the distribution of Entelev. When Sheridan attempted to appeal the original court decision, the court claimed to have lost the transcript. A transcript must accompany any appeal application. Appeal application must be filed within 60 days of the original court decision. The transcript was located just after the 60 days.
Ed Sopcak Joins the Effort
Around 1984, a cancer sufferer (who wishes to remain nameless) was given the prognosis of six weeks to live due to advanced cancer. Instead of dying on schedule, he acquired a bottle of Entelev and in six weeks he was declared cancer-free. Unfortunately, Sheridan had recently quit distributing Entelev in response to a court injunction. This nameless man had written six technical books, and was competent to understand the formulation so Sheridan gave it to him, but he didn’t have the equipment for production. Mr. Nameless contacted a friend, Ed Sopcak who is a metallurgist. Sopcak agreed to make it and eventually started working with Sheridan and distributing it for free between 1984 and 1992.
The FDA Blockade
With their own money Sheridan and Sopcak continued to seek FDA approval. The FDA required toxicity testing. Sheridan and Sopcak decided to pay for this testing because they couldn’t get help from the drug company influenced cancer agencies. Sheridan found what he considered the best laboratory in the country in New Mexico. The cost of the toxicity test was originally $5,000. After they got the material, they called Sheridan and said it would cost $7,000. Sheridan and Sopcak still agreed. The cost went to $15,000. Still Sheridan and Sopcak agreed. Then the lab called and said for some reason or other they were unable to do it.
Sheridan drove to the lab and said he would like to have a toxicity test run. They said they could have it done within a week. After hearing that the material was Entelev, everything changed. They absolutely couldn't get around to doing it. This treatment continued for years. Some people would say that the $700 billion a year Chemo industry has something to do with this blockade. Eventually, Sheridan retired and no longer pursues the battle.
Ingredients
Although the ratio of ingredients of Cancell-like products has changed slightly over the years, the ingredients listed on the labels of Cantron and Protocel are: tetrahydroxyquinone, rhodizonic acid, sodium, potassium, croconic acid, catechol (or pyrocatechol), triquinoyl, leuconic acid, inositol, and copper. The Protocel label also lists "mineral and trace elements" which are at a level of no consequence.

The Formulation Change / Name Confusion / Reputation Destruction
Ed Sopcak worked with James Sheridan, the developer, by distributing Entelev (the original name for Cancell) under the name Cancell between 1984 and 1992. Sopcak's efforts and connections greatly increased public awareness of Cancell. For this reason the term Cancell is used most often when referring to Entelev. Around 1992 Sopcak changed the formulation completely. Sopcak’s new formula resembled a homeopathic product. He stated that it was distilled water “programmed vibrationally.” At this point Sopcak should have changed the name of the product he was manufacturing, but he continued to call it Cancell because he felt that both formulas worked the same way even though they were chemically as different as night and day. Entelev was a dark liquid. Sopcak's new formula was completely clear and contained none of the chemicals that Sheridan had specified. Eventually, Sopcak did change the name of his formula to Quantrol, but the damage to Cancell's reputation continued. This web page uses the term Cancell to refer to the dark formula.
Not long after the formulation change, Quantrol/Cancell received a lot of media attention. Sopcak promoted Quantrol on TV and in articles often referring to it as Cancell and created tremendous confusion. Suddenly, after distributing Cancell for eight years Sopcak was taken to court by the FDA creating more publicity for his "water" and making Cancell seem like a joke. With the wrong formula receiving this negative attention, Cancell's reputation was dealt a devastating blow.
Sopcak Gets Stopped but Distribution Continues
The courts stopped Sopcak from distributing either formula, but during that time a company in Florida started producing Entelev based on a formula forwarded by an intermediary. In 1984 Medical Research Products obtained the Entelev formula and started producing it under the name Cantron. In the spring of 2000 a Canadian company started working with the Sheridan family and called their product Protocel. So now there are two manufacturers. Both charge about the same price. Both products have the same ingredients which are the same as Entelev although there is a slight difference in the quantity of the ingredients.
Radic
In 1999 a product called Radic appeared on the market. It seems that Radic is Protocel purchased from one source or other, placed in a different bottle and marked up 400%.

Blood Brain Barrier
Cantron, Protocel and Paw Paw are two of the few alternative cancer treatments that can pass the blood/brain barrier.

Effectiveness
The developer, James Sheridan felt that his formula was 50% effective (higher for brain tumors). The effectiveness was determined to be a bit lower for children. This seems to be related to the higher level of growth common in the cells of children.
The webmaster, Paul Winter documented case histories for four years. You can read case histories and a summary of the findings for the last year. This is when Protocel and Cantron were both available. Although this study is crude, the results agree with Sheridan's 50% number. Click this link to go to the Cancell Effectiveness Study* page. Some supporters of Cancell claim 80% to 90% effectiveness. However, no documentation is available to support these numbers.
Benign Tumors
It has been reported that Protocel is as effective on benign tumors as it is on cancerous tumors.

Protocel seems to be effect against all types of cancer and benign tumors, however, it does not perform well against the following:

Response Time
Different people respond at different speeds to Protocel. Some cancer sufferers notice response in a week and virus symptoms can go away in one day. However, it can take as much as three months or more for some cancer sufferers to notice improvement especially for Lymphomas. The lymph system has a very slow circulation rate. This slows down the action of Protocel. In the words of James Sheridan, "it takes time to work... 7 to 9 weeks is typical and some cases take up to 3 months or more to see a response."
Some people have a lot of heavy metals in their system. Protocel will attach to this metal and remove it. This can prevent Protocel from making obvious improvement for months, perhaps as much as six months. However, if Protocel is working, there should not be any increase in the progress of the cancer.
One of the reasons for Protocel's apparent slow action is due to the time it takes a person's system to convert the tumors to waste matter and longer to recover from the damage the tumor produced. Often the waste matter around a tumor is misread by a doctor as tumor growth and a person stops taking Protocel before it is finished working. This tragedy is difficult to prevent.
How to Tell if Protocel is Working
When malignant cells go past the primitive state, they lyse or self-digest. When the malignant cells, self-digest, they change from cancer to waste material, composed of two amino acids that have the appearance of raw egg whites, which are mostly excreted through normal body waste disposal or in the case of lung cancer, this material is coughed up. Bubbly urine is a sign of lysing.
Tumor Markers
Tumor markers can raise for three to four months after taking Protocel. This does not mean that Protocel is not working.

No studies on Protocel have been published in standard scientific journals, and no clinical trials (research studies with people) of Protocel have been done. The only case history type documentation available this on the Cancell Effectiveness Study* page.

Conclusiveness of Papers
No scientific peer reviewed papers have been written on Protocel. However, the antioxidant test performed in 2003 verified the tremendous antioxidant ability of Protocel. The results of two independent laboratories are in: Protocel is by far the most powerful antioxidants thus far teste. It is:
Over 25 times more powerful than the previous best antioxidant against peroxyl radicals.
Over 45 times more powerful than the previous best antioxidant against hydroxyl radicals.
These are the two most destructive and difficult to defeat free radicals. This makes Protocel (and Cantron) the only antioxidant that eliminates both of the most dangerous free radicals. Protocel also blocked the formation of all superoxide radicals in the test system. Standalone Ability
Protocel can be taken without any additional supplements and still be effective. However, the addition of the following supplements are recommended by one or other of the manufacturers to support the action of Protocel:

Protocel with Paw Paw
You can take Protocel with Paw Paw, but don't forget to read all the Paw Paw protocols besides these. Some people respond very quickly to Protocel. In this case the body may have excessive waste material to remove. Paw Paw can increase the response of your body and overload the waste removal system. To present this overload, some people start Paw Paw 3 to 5 weeks after starting Cantron or Protocel. Recommended dose for Paw Paw is 1 capsule four times a day at the same time as Protocel or Cantron. Since the recommended dose for Cantron or Protocel is six times a day, you would skip taking Paw Paw for two of the Cantron or Protocel doses.
Since Paw Paw is fat soluble it will work better after a person has started eating for the day. Therefore, some users start taking Paw Paw with the second dose of Cantron.

Dosage and Ease of Use
Protocel is not all that easy to use for these reasons:

Protocel is a liquid and must be shaken and dispensed immediately. Many people do not get a good dose of Protocel because it settles so quickly.

You must take a dose every four hours, consistently (you can skip one dose when sleeping.
-
Some people cannot stand the taste, although I think it tastes OK.
-
There are supplements and treatments that cannot be taken while taking Protocel.
People who change their eating habits greatly increase the effectiveness of the supplements they take. Consider reading the "General Diet*" subsection of the Home page.
Protocols
Before ordering, consider how hard it may be for you or the patient to take Protocel. A quarter teaspoon of the strong tasting Protocel liquid must be taken at regular intervals. Do not eat for 15 minutes before or after taking Protocel. There are two types of Protocel, 23 and 50. See the "Manufacturer" section for the types of cancers for which each is intended. Their dose schedules are:
Protocel 23 every 4 hours throughout the day, plus a double amount at bedtime if you feel you must sleep through the next 4 hour dose.
Protocel 50 every 5 ½ hours throughout the day. For example: take at 7:00 a.m. / 12:30 a.m. / 6:00 p.m. / 11:30 p.m. Do not double your 11:30 p.m. dosage. (four times a day).
Actually, the more often you take Protocel the better. However, the dosage size can be reduced. For example. taking Protocel every two hours only requires a dosage size of an 1/8 of a teaspoon

Rectal Administration Option
If oral administration is not possible, some people are administered Protocel rectally. They use a plastic eye dropper and the same quarter of a teaspoon dose. They insert the dropper just past the rectal muscle and dispense the Protocel. They recommend avoiding bowel movements for at least 20 minutes.
Critical CAT Scan Information
As Protocel works and tumors start to break down, they can appear to get larger. CAT scans sometimes can't distinguish between growing tumors and tumors that are breaking down, but a PET scan** can verify the breakdown of tumors.
Interrupting Protocel
If you interrupt doses of Protocel, it allows the cancer or viral cells to have a meal. When you are trying to starve these cells, allowing them to have a meal is a significant step backward. This "meal" could allow the cells, which have not starved to death, to completely recover.
There is no evidence that suggests that stopping Protocel will increase tumor growth rate. This is especially true during the beginning time before Protocel starts to work. After Protocel starts to work on cancer cells, growth should stop. If a person stops taking Protocel at that point, the growth would most likely start again at the previous rate.
Prevention
Some people want to continue Protocel after remission. I know of one person who continues to take Protocel five years after his remission; no side effects have been observed. However, if you reduce the dosage size or schedule of Protocel. Protocel WILL NOT WORK as a tumor treatment. However, Protocel is a most powerful antioxidant and can be taken once or twice a day for its antioxidant benefit. Antioxidants are well recognized cancer fighters.

Side Effects and Toxicity
Protocel does not seem to have any side effect except that initially a person may feel tired. On average tiredness lasts 2 1/2 weeks, but some patients report that it lasts longer. This is an indication that Protocel is working. Some people who are having digestion problems may not be able to keep Protocel down. Using simple food combining can reduce digestion problems; do not eat starch with meat, and do not eat fruit with other foods. Another solution is to switch to rectal administration which is explained with the other dosage information.
One woman mistakenly drank an entire bottle of Protocel and only experienced diarrhea the next day. She discovered her mistake and started taking the correct dosage. She is now cured of cancer.
Due to the many changes a woman’s body goes through during pregnancy, Protocel is not recommended during pregnancy just to be on the safe side.
The Toxicity Testing Procedure
Although Sheridan was unable to get a lab to perform a toxicity test on Entelev, one interested group succeeded in getting the test performed by changing the name. This group fears reprisals from the FDA and have requested that I not include the cover-name they used and the date of the test. However, I received permission to publish the results of the test.
Toxicity tests establish the level of a compound at which half the test mice die. The level is expressed in terms of milligrams per kilogram of the animal’s body weight. For example, the toxicity of aspirin is 390mg/kilo; if each mouse weighed a kilogram half of them would die if they were each given 390 mg. The test procedure for new compounds is to slowly increase the level of the compound until half the mice die.
The test lab started the test in the normal way (see above paragraph) and eventually tested levels of hundreds of milligrams per kilo of body weight and no mice died. When the lab got to a level of 5000mg/kilo of body weight they stopped the gradual increments because no mice had yet died. They jumped the level to 11,000 mg per kilo of body weight and finally 70% of the mice died. This level is the equivalent of a 150 pound man taking 700, 1000 mg (“horse”) pills.

Compatibility
Protocel is a delicate treatment whose effect can be stopped by a number of substances. Before you order, decide if you are willing to stop taking any of the substances that interfere with Protocel. If you are not willing to stop taking those things, ordering Protocel might be a waste of money.
Foods to Avoid
Reducing your intake of refined sugar had been known to aid the effects of Protocel. Fructose, honey, and 100% maple syrup are much better.
Vitamins to Avoid
Do not take any supplements that contain the vitamins or supplements listed below. Some people say that you can take up to certain levels of these vitamins, but this information is often confused . The developer of Protocel (then called Entelev), James Sheridan knew the danger of taking multiple vitamins, people will confuse things such as milligrams (mg) and micrograms (cmg). He is the person who said, do not take any supplements that contain the following vitamins:

Chemo With Protocel to Reduce Side Effects
Although chemo prevents Protocel from working, taking Protocel while taking chemo reduces the side effects of chemo, but does not reduce the effectiveness of chemo. For months after chemo treatments, it may be difficult for Protocel to work. Protocel does start right away, but produces results more slowly after taking chemo. Even fairly healthy people can take many months to recover from chemo.
Warning: If a cancer patient uses Protocel during a course of chemo, the reduced side effects caused by Protocel may encourage the oncologist to increase the dose of chemo. If the patient then decides to stop the Protocel, for whatever reason, the side effects of chemo can increase and greatly threaten the patients life.

As Protocel works and tumors start to break down, they can appear to get larger. CAT scans sometimes can't distinguish between growing tumors and tumors that are breaking down, but a PET scan** can verify the breakdown of tumors.

PAS numbers can escalate for a month or more while taking Protocel. This actually means that Protocel is working.

I cannot recommend any Protocel forum including the newer Official International Forum for Protocel, Entelev & Cancell. These forums seem to be associated with people who have demonstrated carelessness about the information they present and who sell or profit from the sale of Protocel. These people promote ideas such as taking Protocel of six months to see if it will work. This is absurd. In the two day NCI test of Cancell (the previous name) it reduced most of the 60 tumor masses by 80% or more. In two days. See the Response Time section.
